A Simple Guide to Reading Betting Odds
Bettors in Bangladesh typically encounter three odds formats. They all mean the same thing — only the way they are written differs.
The higher the number, the lower the chance of winning but the greater the return. Stake × Odds = Total Return.
Example 1: Team A wins at decimal odds of 3.00 — a ৳200 bet returns ৳600 in total (৳400 profit + ৳200 stake). If you lose, ৳200 is gone.
"2/1" means ৳2 profit for every ৳1 staked. The stake is returned separately on top.
The same bet in fractional odds is 2/1 — a ৳200 stake returns ৳400 profit + ৳200 stake = ৳600.
"+" shows how much profit a ৳100 stake earns; "−" shows how much you need to stake to earn ৳100 profit.
Example 1: Team A at American odds of +200 — a ৳200 stake returns ৳600.
Example 2: Team B is the favourite — decimal 1.50 = fractional 1/2 = American −200. A ৳200 bet returns ৳300 (৳100 profit).
